This publication was written for helping with mild depression and suggests that professional help be sought for more serious forms of depression. Three levels of depression are discussed, however it focuses on discouragement, which most people experience at some point and may be referred to as "the blues." Some indications of depression from the National Institute of Mental Health are given, along with steps to deal with depressing thoughts and feelings. More hints are given for winning the depression battle and a brief discussion is given when help should be sought and where a person should go. This fact sheet explains how mild depression can be overcome with a positive attitude and a strong desire to let go of depression.
