This report published by Mathematica Policy Research evaluates the initial implementation of the Couple Employment (CE) project in Baltimore, Maryland, a voluntary intervention program for couples that addresses simultaneously employment, financial literacy, and relationship issues. Overall, couples agreed with the view of CE staff that participating as a couple was important to get the most from CE and valued the opportunities to improve their relationship and to get assistance with housing, employment, and budgeting. In addition, they reported strengthening commitment to their relationship through CE. Validating the program model that integrates family stability and economic success, these findings reinforce the significance of supporting couples in establishing and maintaining a healthy relationship while also assisting them to obtain economic self-sufficiency.
