Intended for early care and education staff and directors, school principals, educators, and parents, this compendium presents evidence-based parenting interventions that are most likely to be effective with families of young children. It begins by defining parenting interventions, emphasizing the importance of early intervention, and explaining the purpose of the continuum. The following section describes how a parenting intervention works, theories of change, and how the parenting interventions were selected to be apart of the compendium. Next, recommendations are provided on key considerations for choosing parenting interventions. A table is then provided to enable the comparison of parenting interventions. For each parenting intervention included in the compendium, the table includes a brief description, child outcomes, child age, required initial training, level of education required to deliver the intervention, and startup costs. A following table compares the evidence across the parenting interventions included in the compendium to enable practitioners to make an informed choice. Information is provided on the amount, kinds, and quality of evidence currently available for each intervention. Finally, the compendium includes a profile of each parenting intervention that includes contact information for the intervention developer. and a table that includes research about and outcomes of each of the interventions.
