Research findings are reported from a 1992 survey that reveal variations in sexuality by age, race, gender, education, and life circumstances. Findings indicate married men and women report less sexual dysfunction than single people, men tend to experience more sexual dysfunction, women report more sexual problems as they get older, blacks experience more sexual dysfunction than whites, being highly educated is associated with greater sexual satisfaction, and declining fortunes contribute to sexual dysfunction, especially for women. The relationship between depression and sexual functioning is explored and implications for treatment are discussed.
